Job Description

A large multinational manufacturing business is currently seeking to recruit an ACA/ACCA Qualified Accountant to fulfill the UK Chief Accountant role at their site in North Manchester. You will report directly into the Uk Group Accounting Finance Manager, and experienced with FMCG and SAP.


Salary 45-55Kpa dependent on experience

Car Allowance: £5250

25 days holiday plus statutory

Customer Service

Company/Department strategy and plans

Develops both mid terms and short term plans at a departmental and individual level that are results oriented.

Has a clear understanding of how the plans of own and other departments' fit together to form a cohesive site business plan.

Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the business /department and their environment and uses both to identify weaknesses or gaps in plans and takes appropriate action to remedy them.

Optimises allocated resources (human, technical, financial, etc.) to develop team performance. Monitors his/her performance and those of his/her teams against external and internal best practices and recommends new methods and processes in order to drive improvements.

Direct reports are well motivated and have development plans in place.

Commercial Awareness

Experience of SAP in FMCG environment.

Experience of developing processes to produce the level of financial control and financial information as agreed with the Head of General Accounting.

Understands the relationship between cost, quality and time on the manufacture of products and delivery of services and uses that knowledge to make commercially sound decisions.

Is able to interpret external regulations, translate and apply them in a practical context for the business.

Establishes systems to monitor, audit and control adherence to policies and standards across the business. Briefs and trains others in the use of policies, procedures and standards throughout the business. Provides advice and guidance on the application of policies, procedures and standards.


Professional qualification Chartered Accountant.

Strong technical knowledge of current UK accounting standards (both FRS101 and IFRS) and the ability to recognise main issues.

Excellent understanding and ability to use software (both at desktop and enterprise level) and other business information to provide a reporting service to Internal and External customers to agreed deadlines.

Is persuasive in presenting information and cases for change, using facts, logic, reasoning and the ability to work with others to mutual benefit.

Acts as a Company expert to identify and take personal responsibility for control processes, setting standards and reviews in performing the role of procedures and Compliance on Company systems and Processes

Understands the principles of change management and is able to use them to lead change management initiatives.
