Job Description

Your new company – The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) is here to help make Britain the world’s most creative, connected and exciting place to live, visit and do business. DCMS works to make sure the communications, creative, media, cultural, tourism, sport and leisure economies have the framework to grow and have real impact on people’s lives. We create the conditions for growth by removing barriers, providing strategic direction and supporting innovation and creativity. We want everyone to be able to enjoy our national culture, play sport and have access to effective communications

Your new role - This is an exciting role, which will provide the successful applicant with opportunities to work with a diverse group of Arm’s Length Bodies (ALBs), which follow a number of financial accounting frameworks including pure IFRS, UKGAAP and the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice. This results in the requirement to ‘align’ statutory accounts with the DCMS Group thus providing excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to develop knowledge across the range of frameworks. Whilst DCMS is relatively small in size, its impact is significant - we lead on a large number of extremely interesting and topical areas. The central Finance team (of which FACT is an integral part), is relatively small, this provides opportunities not always found in a bigger department. Finance is high on the agenda and provides the opportunity for development opportunities for the team and the opportunity to influence the direction of the Department for the future.

What you'll need to succeed – you will be a qualified accountant with at least 5 years post qualified experience. You will have experience of producing full sets of consolidated accounts, ideally in Government but this isn’t essential. Candidates with a background in external audit would be at an advantage.

What you'll get in return – you will be working in a busy finance team with exposure to some of the most interesting organisations in the UK. The size of the departments means your role will be varied and evolving. You will benefit from an excellent work life balance and generous salary and pension scheme.
