Commercial business partnering opportunity
The company has a well known brand, and is part of a much larger group. It stands alone as an SME within that, and has offices on a business park on the outskirts of Reading (avoiding all traffic!)
The business is profitable and growing, but it needs to evolve the commerciality around their decision making. Alongside traditional monthly accounting, annual reporting and ownership of the finance team - this role will partner with business operations in order to support their further growth. The Financial Controller will involve themselves in all site meetings, working with non-finance teams to analyse where they are making and losing money, and how they should make improvements and efficiency's. The processes are very manual, so they would like a candidate who can help support automation, and reducing time spent on accounting and business issues.
There is a team of 3 staff who need coaching development and leadership. While it's not necessary that candidates have staff management experience, you will need to show a desire and capability to lead.
Candidates should be qualified accountants, who have worked in a Finance Manager role or similar, keen to step up into a more senior role. Your experience to date should be a mix of financial/management accounting, as well as supporting the commercials in a business. You will need to demonstrate achievements on your CV, and have an appreciation of the challenges of an operational retail business (but no need to have worked in one)
A salary of between £65,000 and £70,000 depending on experience. There will be a discretionary bonus, pension, health care package.
