Head of Business Communities

Overall purpose of the role

To oversee the delivery and development of our business communities, driving continued growth in member engagement and developing commercial partnerships to ensure financial sustainability.

Main responsibilities of role

Working alongside the Head of Communities and Head of Commercial Partnerships, this role will have responsibility for developing our business communities. The role will have responsibility for developing new and existing business communities, driving growth in member engagement and using commercial partnerships to ensure that activity is financially sustainable.

The Head of Business Communities will be required to work collaboratively across ICAEW, together with member volunteers, to ensure that each community has a clearly defined strategy with measurable KPIs. A Chartered Accountant, preferably with experience of working in industry, the Head of Business Communities will:

  • work closely with other MCSS teams to ensure that business communities contribute to the success of all departmental objectives and commercial targets
  • establish and maintain a network of contracted SMEs, ensuring a scalable delivery model for the communities proposition
  • ensure that there is a clear strategy for each business community, setting out what our aims‎ (including commercial and public policy) are for the community together with measurable KPIs for each of these 
  • work alongside the Head of Communities to ensure the day-to-day operational running of the communities, with a continual focus on efficiency, and work with the Events, Publishing and Library teams to ensure a high standard of content for each community
  • work with the regional and international teams to ensure local engagement and participation in business communities
  • work with the Director for Corporate Governance and Regional Engagement to ensure that the strategies for business communities contribute to and are aligned with the strategy for enhancing our Corporate Governance activity
  • work with the Director for Product Development to support the development and roll out of initiatives which assist business members to adapt to new technologies

  • A good understanding of structure and workings of professional membership bodies preferably in the business or accountancy world.
