This Chartered Accountants is a multi-faceted practice based in Hertfordshire and London. As a dynamic forward-thinking and growing firm, they have an outstanding reputation, both with our clients and within their profession.
Based flexibly in both their Stevenage and London office, this role will report into the Head of Accounting Support.
The role will ideally suit a senior accountant/assistant manager looking to progress into a management role or an existing client manager who is looking to join a larger public practice. The ideal candidate will be qualified by experience working in a professional practice and have a proven track record of managing a client portfolio combined with strong IT skills and in particular a detailed knowledge of Xero, with the ability to present to new and existing clients as well as training and implementing accounting systems.
This role will give the ideal candidate exposure to a variety of our clients across a wide range of industries and sectors. You will be managing a portfolio of clients, responsible for management accounts, bookkeeping, VAT returns and other assignments required by clients. Reviewing work completed by team members. Monitoring and reviewing accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness. Applying understanding of Xero and according software applications to fit in with client's requirements. Presenting and training Xero and related applications to existing and potential clients.
Liaising with clients directly to resolve queries or obtain further information. Working closely with Partners and other Managers.Taking the lead in internal and external meetings where required.
Balancing the needs and expectations of different Partners and Managers.Managing work in progress and process billing in a timely fashion. Developing and maintaining good client relations. Involved in the development of new client proposals.Working closely with managers and other team members.Contributing towards business development meetings/initiatives. Involvement with the training and mentoring of the team members in the accounting support team. Undertake research/ad hoc projects. As well as having excellent technical knowledge the ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and have the ability to work autonomously.
The nature of the role requires a self-starter who is extremely organised with the ability to juggle priorities and able to work on their own initiative and recognise the need for absolute confidentiality and professionalism. Building credible relationships with internal and external stakeholders is critical to the success of this role.
Strong IT skills and knowledge of accounting systems in particular Xero, which is essential. Bookkeeping experience within a professional practice is essential. Client facing experience. ACCA or AAT qualified, preferred but is not essential.
Excellent inter-personal skills to work effectively with Partners and staff at all levels.
