You’ll work alongside senior members of the client’s management team in planning the audit process from beginning to end, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and fair presentation of our client’s information.
PwC is looking for exceptional performers at Director level to take a key leadership role within its assurance team based in Leeds/Manchester, with a focus on the Insurance sector. This is a significant growth priority for PwC both locally and nationally, and you will work with both local leadership and national FS leadership to help serve existing high profile clients, as well as help growth
You will have strong technical auditing knowledge, have strong leadership skills and be a good all round team player with a proven track record in building and sustaining client relationships. You will be ACA qualified (or equivalent), have extensive experience of leading assurance engagements and be used to working to tight deadlines and handling pressure. As an RI (Responsible Individual), you’ll be responsible for the leading the delivery of your audit engagements and ensuring the high quality of your team’s audit work and reporting. You will also lead and coach your team members, and manage relationships with senior level clients. More broadly, you will also contribute to the running of our national business unit, including business and people development.
About the role
Insurance is a fast growing market sector within PwC. The assurance practice within this is a unique £100m+ division offering a broad range of services, tailored to assisting Insurers to grow and overcome the complex challenges they face. Our client base varies – Global multinationals, through to private equity backed businesses and start-ups. Our team is mainly based in London, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester. You will gain experience across a wide variety of markets and industry sectors including life insurance, general insurance and insurance broking.
As part of the assurance team you will work primarily on audit engagements, however the insurance sector is experiencing unprecedented change through the impact of ongoing regulatory demands, changes to the market, Brexit and the introduction of IFRS 17. There will be opportunity for strong candidates to broaden their experience and be involved in projects to support clients on a wide range of change programmes.

Essential skills and experience required
ACA or equivalent
Have significant experience of leading engagement teams, from planning to supervision and review of the process
Have the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and clients at all levels
Focussed and initiative driven (required to maximise growth potential)
Experience of working with clients in either the FS or more specifically Insurance industries
A passion for delivering an exceptional client service
Strong analytical and organisational abilities
Experience in supervising and developing staff
Proven track record of establishing and maintaining strong client relationships
Take a proactive approach to problem solving and delivering client solutions
Experience of supervising and developing staff through coaching
Strong project management
Desirable skills required
Knowledge of International Accounting Standards and/or US GAAP would be an advantage
