The Head of Finance is responsible for finance, compliance monitoring program, regulatory reporting and day to day operational controls of the office. The reporting line is direct to the CEO. This is a key role and will play an active part in the strategic growth plans of the organisation. We are a small but fast growing organisation and this role would suit a proactive individual who can develop this function as the company grows.
Key responsibilities include:

• Cash management - Cash flow projection, managing working capital needs, accounts payable / receivable
• Accounting – financial and management accounts
• Expense and cost management
• Financial planning / budgeting
• Regulatory and HMRC returns (including VAT and payroll related)
• Managing audit and tax advisor relationships
• Implement / supervise internal controls around proper finance practices
• Assist with financing and capital raisings
• Oversee and monitor implementation of the Compliance monitoring program and compliance action log
• Internal risk assessments and update of ICAAP
• Regulatory reporting e.g. GABRIEL returns
• Monitoring of Regulatory breaches and Complaints handling
• Regulatory audits of client money
• Identify and implement any regulatory reporting associated with new product launches
• Reporting to Board
• Management of a team (1 individual currently)
• HR – managing benefits, business insurances, coordination with outsourced payroll provider
• Policies and procedures related to above


Required knowledge and experience

• Qualified accountant, minimum 3-4 years post qualified experience
• Has worked in a small or medium size financial services organisation, appreciation of financial services regulatory environment
• Good understanding of control environment for a small office
• Experience in Gabriel reporting and Client Money requirements.
• Has managed audit relationships
• Experience in managing small teams
• Experience with VAT (preferred).
• Exposure to retail investment or insurance products (desirable)
