Finance Manager - Corporate Accounting
A fantastic opportunity is available for a Finance Manager - Corporate Accounting & Policies to join our Finance team.
This is a high profile role responsible for providing expert accounting advice across the group, including, driving the accounting treatment of corporate transactions (acquisitions, joint ventures, disposals etc), ownership of specific Corporate Headquarters accounting processes, including share awards, CGU impairment review and going concern reviews; ownership of the Group’s Finance Manual; establishing, implementing and continuous improvement of financial policies across the group.
There is significant scope for the candidate to develop this role as RB continues to evolve.
SCOPE / DIMENSIONS OF ROLE
This role will be expected to own the accounting for certain specific accounting areas, including accounting for corporate transactions (acquisitions, disposals), CGU impairment review, going concern reviews and accounting for share awards, as well as drafting key documents for presentation to the Audit Committee. The role will also liaise with external auditors and provide advice to senior finance management on appropriate accounting.
The Finance Manager – Corporate Accounting & Policies is an important point of contact for local FDs in applying all aspects of Group finance policy. The candidate must work closely to ensure that policies and treatments adopted are consistent, IFRS compliant and as practical as possible from an operational perspective. The role will drive the process of selection, implementation and continuous improvement of appropriate accounting policies for the group, including the communication around policy decisions with the wider finance community.
The person will be expected to have strong communication skills as they will be dealing regularly with senior Corporate HQ individuals and you will have significant scope to drive change in group policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
Advise Finance management across the Group of the commercial impact of new policies and new accounting requirements.
Work on corporate transactions and special projects when they arise as directed by the Finance Director – Corporate Accounting.
Own the accounting for share awards, the annual CGU impairment review and the bi-annual Group going concern review.
Drive the accounting treatment for significant corporate transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures and disposals.
Review proposed and ongoing developments in all current accounting standards (IFRS), listing rules (UK LSE) and all other relevant regulatory requirements to ensure the group is prepared for adoption of new requirements.
Work with external auditors (PwC) to ensure policies and treatments are appropriate and acceptable.
Support and coach other members of the wider Corporate Control team, contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team, add value and develop performance and play an integral role in the ongoing organisational transformation.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE
Qualified ACA – first time passes essential
Must be a graduate with a 2.1 degree from a reputable university.
Very strong knowledge of IFRS essential.
Proven experience of providing technical accounting advice to international organisations.
The most relevant experience for this role will be either commercial or practice based analysis and interpretation of accounting standards, and the provision of technical accounting advice to commercial organisations, ideally including FMCG organisations and / or UK listed corporations.

Pragmatic approach to turning complex financial reporting requirements into practical advice for the business.

Can manage diverse groups of people, has strong cultural empathy, excellent interpersonal skills and can build constructive relationships internally and externally, is good at finding common ground and pragmatic solutions to problems.
