Job description

Our client, a leading insurance management company based in Bermuda, is seeking to hire a recently-qualified chartered accountant for a Financial Accountant  role.

The position involves responsibility for managing a portfolio of Re/Insurance companies. On-the-job training and/or external training will be provided so don't worry if you're new to the Insurance sector; assistance and direction are always available from other team members and management.

Major responsibilities are as follow:

  • Production of quarterly management financial statements, annual financial statements and associated work papers for external auditors
  • Production of financial statement analysis (for example, by shareholder, policy, type of business and/or underwriting year)
  • Planning and co-ordination of the audit and associated client liaison
  • Preparation and filing of the statutory financial statements
  • Coordination of, and attendance at, company meetings (though note that Corporate Secretarial work is handled by a law firm)
  • Cash management and day-to-day administration of the companies
  • Co-operation and supervision of the investment management program
  • Maintenance, with the assistance of legal counsel, of all contracts, insurance and reinsurance policies and agreement
  • Administration of letters of credit

Candidate requirements

  • A professional accountancy designation (ideally ACA, CA, CPA)
  • Experience in preparation of financial statements, dealing with clients and auditors 
  • An outstanding professional work ethic with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Keen to learn; knowledge of the Insurance sector is not required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willing to work overtime, as may be required on occasion
