Your new role – The position of Financial Accountant is a key post for the Royal College of Art. Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting you will be an expert within the College regarding technical accounting and financial compliance matters. Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring best practice in terms of complying with all current accounting and legal reporting obligations.
- Supporting the Head of Financial Accounting in the production of key statutory/legal accounting reports, including the year-end financial statements
- Ensuring that key financial controls are operating effectively.
- Supporting the Head of Financial Accounting when dealing with auditors (both internal and external) and other third party stakeholders.
You will have the opportunity to manage a Finance Assistant and will be responsible for their future development. Working effectively with the Head of Financial Accounting will also be essential with view to continually improving systems and the timeliness of the production of information. There are also various key projects to become involved in, for example, implementing a new fixed asset module.
What you'll need to succeed – The successful applicant will have experience of working in finance, have excellent attention to detail and be used to working to tight deadlines. Ideally you will be studying towards AAT or another accounting qualification and will be committed to developing your skills. You must have strong IT skills and have good working knowledge of word and excel. Experience of Agresso would be beneficial but not essential. Given the broad nature of the role you should be flexible and have the agility to move between different tasks. You must also be confident dealing with people at all levels and have excellent communication skills.
