*Interaction with all levels of management.
*Assist the Head of Internal Audit in meeting company requirements by providing independent assurance with respect to the effective operation and execution of the company control framework. The business operate a process that implements the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act 2002.
*To keep up to date with requirements including testing guidelines.
*Perform independent reviews of the controls in place within the Syndicate and be able to identify areas for improvement in process and control design and operation and recommend and implement appropriate solutions.
*Liaise with Finance, External Audit and other contacts to understand delivery and deadline requirements and timetable work accordingly to meet requests.
*Assist the Head of Internal Audit in providing independent assurance with respect to the effective operation and execution of selected controls within the Solvency II Validation framework.
*Co-ordination of internal audit activities with the Risk Management, Compliance and Finance functions and to work effectively with all departments within the Syndicate.
*To be able to clearly communicate and articulate control requirements and issues.
*Liaison with outsource partners engaged to provide specialist internal audit services.
*Overseeing and executing all aspects of the audit process as necessary (planning, scoping, field execution, reporting etc.).
*Conducting special projects at request of Head of Internal Audit / company management responding to emerging business risks.
*Review/preparation of audit working paper documentation in accordance with professional standards.
*Audit follow up to verify issues have been adequately addressed by management
The ideal candidate will be/have:
*Proven track record within internal/external audit environment evidencing strong performance in conducting high quality audit work, findings and reports.
*Effective interaction with all levels of senior management.
*Insurance / Reinsurance industry experience, especially as this relates to the commercial London Market general Insurance sector (including Lloyds). Candidates offering specific insurance technical capabilities would be considered favourably.
*Professional qualifications - ACA/CIMA/CIA/ACII or similar.
*Self confidence and ability to deal effectively with all levels of management.
*Strong project management skills and team working aptitude.
*Strong knowledge of technical auditing concepts, business processes and internal control systems.
*Sound understanding of core regulatory/best practice control models (FSA, Sarbanes-Oxley, COSO, Solvency II etc.).
*Working knowledge of UK and US GAAP advantageous,
*Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
*Strong analytical skills.
*Ability to use Microsoft applications.
