A Little Bit About Us…………..

Who are we?
We are the branch of the RSPCA that covers much of the South Cotswolds. All RSPCA branches are separately registered charities responsible for raising all of their own funding and using this income to support local animal welfare.

The branch has 106 members. From this membership we have 9 elected Trustees. These Trustees take responsibility for ensuring the branch meets it’s objectives of preventing animal cruelty and providing animal welfare to the community it serves. They are responsible for the management of the branch and safeguarding its future.

The branch currently has in the region of 100 volunteers and 13 very committed members of part and full time staff. Seven of our staff are employed to run our three charity shops in Stroud, Cirencester and Nailsworth. The charity shops generate the much of the sustainable income that is used to meet the day to day costs of providing animal welfare. The remaining staff work from our office in Stroud. They ensure that we meet all local animal welfare needs, that we are getting publicity for the branch, are recruiting new volunteers and last but not least are raising money to help pay for all the work we do.

Our Work
The branch is completely committed to ensuring we provide the best possible animal welfare to our local community:

• We annually take in and rehome in the region of 250 animals.

• We run a twice weekly clinic at our premises in Stroud.

• We also provide, for people on Income Support, reduced fee neutering and veterinary help vouchers.

In 2011 we supported 870 animals through these schemes.


Our Future
The future for our branch is exciting. We have a great team of people supporting us and we are currently working with architects to develop Beechmeadow Farm, a site the branch owns, into a branch-run animal centre. The animal centre project is a significant undertaking for the branch and its success will be dependent on the support of our volunteers and the local community.
