Audit New Zealand is the largest public sector auditor in New Zealand. We are an operating arm of the Auditor-General, and are responsible for the annual audits of many public sector entities in New Zealand. We audit both financial and non-financial performance information as part of our work.

The Controller and Auditor-General is an independent statutory officer of Parliament, and is responsible for ensuring that public money is used properly and effectively. The Office of the Auditor-General conducts performance audits and inquiries, and engages different audit service providers (including Audit New Zealand) to undertake annual audits.

Audit New Zealand staff are highly respected within the public sector for their independence, integrity, and professionalism. We consistently strive to improve the performance of the public sector through our work, and we’re proud of our reputation.
